Preparing Young Minds and Hearts for Kindergarten

A Christ-centered VPK program that builds academic readiness, character, and confidence

VPK: Laying the Groundwork for a Bright Future

Our Florida VPK program provides free early education for children who turn four by September 1, giving them a strong academic and social foundation for kindergarten and beyond. At Forest Hills Presbyterian Learning Center, we combine purposeful learning with a nurturing, faith-based environment to help every child grow in knowledge, confidence, and character.

As a trusted VPK provider in Tampa, we focus on the skills that matter most during these critical early years—language development, early math, problem-solving, attention, and positive learning habits that support long-term success in school and in life.

Preparing for Kindergarten with Confidence

Our VPK classroom offers a structured and engaging learning experience where children are encouraged to think independently, ask questions, and take pride in their accomplishments. Through a balance of teacher-guided instruction and hands-on exploration, students build:

  • Early reading and emergent writing skills
  • Foundational math and science concepts
  • Strong social and emotional development
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
  • Fine and gross motor coordination
  • Creative expression through the arts

Each day is thoughtfully planned to help children feel confident, capable, and ready for the transition to elementary school.

Purposeful Learning with The Creative Curriculum®

We use The Creative Curriculum®, which includes 38 objectives for development and learning and aligns with Hillsborough County School Readiness goals. Learning experiences are intentionally designed to support kindergarten readiness while meeting each child at their individual level.

Families stay connected to their child’s progress through:

  • Monthly learning standards sent home
  • Developmentally sequenced goals that build throughout the year
  • Parent conferences in November and April

This partnership between school and home helps extend learning beyond the classroom and strengthens every child’s success.

Faith-Based Learning & Character Development

In our faith-based early learning program, children grow not only academically but also in kindness, perseverance, and respect for others. Daily prayer, Bible stories, and character-building moments help students develop a strong moral foundation while learning how their faith connects to everyday life.

This focus on the whole child—mind, body, and spirit—sets our VPK program apart and prepares students to shine in kindergarten and beyond.

What Families Should Know

Florida’s VPK covers the cost of the instructional day. A one-time annual program fee is due at the start of the school year and supports the enriching experiences, materials, and resources that make our program exceptional.

Ready for What’s Next

Our goal is for every child to leave VPK not only academically prepared, but also confident, curious, and excited about learning. Families across Tampa and Hillsborough County choose our program because it provides a strong start in a safe, joyful, and purpose-filled environment.
